The Domino's Effect

It’s interesting that, in a time when we’ve seen retailer after retailer crumble to activist pressure, it was Domino’s that refused fall. The decision by Domino’s shareholders to buck pressure from activists to dictate production practices to farmers was both risky and courageous.

Retailers and consumer brands are being pushed more and more to deny market access to farmers who want to choose the best practices for their farms. Using blatant bullying tactics, activists are demanding that retailers buckle to very vocal and well-funded minority which is lobbying the federal government to mandate both farming practices and the food choices available to consumers.

Champions For Agriculture believes food animal production practices are best decided by the highly principled, professional farmers and veterinarians who have trained for the job, understand animal behavior and have been providing for the well-being of the animals in their care long before it was fashionable.
